Biography

Simon Velasquez received his B.S. and Ph.D. In Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from The University of Kansas. His thesis, "The Greener Alternative: Sustainable Development of Pharmaceuticals and Polymers", focused on leveraging earth-abundant resources to help advance the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals in the pharmaceutical, thermoplastics, and detergent industries to better serve terrestrial and aquatic life. 

Simon is continuing his passion for sustainable development as a Senior Scientist I with AbbVie Inc in the Center of Excellence for Reaction Engineering.
