Biography

Kaitlyn is currently in her junior year studying chemical engineering. She is working on a research project involving the valorization of bioethanol using biocatalysis. In broad terms, redox enzymes are highly selective natural biocatalysts that can be used for reactions like oxidation of alcohols. However, they suffer from limitations like low stability and denaturation. Kaitlyn’s research will help overcome such limitations by immobilizing the enzymes using solid supports, which in turn is expected to significantly enhance the performance of such biocatalysts. In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking & reading.

Education
