Art Ballos

Art Ballos is a Physics teacher at Wichita High East, Wichita, Kansas, “the oldest, biggest and the most diverse school in KS.” He finished his bachelor’s in Secondary Education Major in Physics in the Philippines at Bicol University Gubat Campus in 2001. He moved to Wichita, KS, started teaching in 2006, and finished his Master of Arts in Teaching at Emporia University in 2013. Now he is currently finishing his Doctorate Degree in Education Leadership and School Administration at KU. His interest is to improve the standard and quality of science education in Secondary school, integrating Math and Engineering Skills in his teaching curriculum and pedagogy. This passion leads him to get the National Board Certification process and be selected as State Level Awardee of Presential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching PAEMST for 2017 and 2021. His works and writings have been forwarded to the national level for the selection process, hoping to get the PAEMST national award for this School Year 2021. He has been part of the KU RET program, his first year was in 2017 with Biodiesel research, and this year is with Dr. Allgeier for ECO water theme research for Hydrogel.
